Complete Design (Front page, Contents and DPS)

Changes I have made:
Front page: Made the fonts of the cover lines smaller and the 'Free downloads' smaller as well so it doesn't take away the focus of the main cover line. I added a website under the masthead to add to branding.

Contents page: I aligned everything, fixed the page numbers; made them smaller. I added branded on the left hand side. I put it there so It can be seen easily. I made the 'regulars' smaller.

DPS: I changed the font colour of the questions to differentiate between questions and the answers, I changed the alignment of the text so it can be read better. I changed the pull quote, I felt that it was too long and got in the way, so I shortened it and placed it right at the bottom. I added the same branding as the contents page to make it look professional. I also added the signature of the artist to make it more original and different to all the other pages.

Signature for dps Ideas

I decided to add a signature to my DPS to make it different to every other DPS. I experimented on illustrator, making the signature unique.  I think the last one is the best one, i put it on my DPS, i had to change the transparency to suit my House Style.

Front page.. Final design

This is my front page, what do you think?
I decided to use font that already exists because the ones I designed myself did not go with my music genre. I decided to keep the front page simply so it could be easy to read. I think my colour scheme goes well with my genre as it relates to both males and females.

Contents page.. final design

This is my contents page.. the final design. what do you think??
My main headings fonts I chose from in design because the ones I designed myself did not go with my genre of music. The font of the text is clear and easy to read. I decided not to put that much writing because the DPS will have all the information.

Additional Photos for my contents page

I took these pictures because they go with my genre of music I chose, I took a range of pictures because I chose to put 3 genres together. I wanted to mix dubstep (sound decks). dubstep is all about sound and bass so the pictures I took I thought were relevant to that. rnb (Piano) adding the soul to the magazine with is different to any other magazine published with rap (Mic). this goes with the events I put in my magazine such as open Mic nights.

Plan for my DPS

I will have the image on one side and the article on the other side, this will make it more interesting for the readers.

Newsstand task

The magazines are neatly placed and very organised into different category which makes it easier to find and purchase. All the mastheads are visible. men's magazines are placed at the top and children magazines are at the bottom so they can be at eye level. One magazine has a sign saying 'free clutch bag' this attracts the customers which is also at eye level.
There are different ways to distribute magazines, through application on phones and computers, magazines can be mailed if you get a subscription.

Evaluation of preliminary tast (College mag)

I think what went well was the layout of my front page of my magazine, I think that the way everything was placed on the page was clear and precise. Others have said that the colour scheme is good and is consistent throughout and worked very well. Also the arrows that I used indicate what is in the magazine which is clear, the use of text and shapes used was effective as it draws the audience in. My masthead and cover lines are big and bold to attract the eye of the audience.

My contents page is the same colour as my front page therefore works well. The texts is white therefore stands out on the red background which makes it easy to read. Others have said the layout on my contents page is very easy to understand and to follow. Another person has said that they like they way I have put the text on one side and pictures on the other, this makes it more affective and makes it less boring.

However, on the other hand things that could have been improved is the quality of the picture used on my front page. Some people have said that the pictures is blurry and makes the front page look unprofessional and I could have used a more efficient image for the front page. So this is defiantly something I would change.

On my contents page things I could improve on is that there should be more information so that the readers can navigate the magazine efficiently.
Three key points for developments when producing my music magazine is for the photography to be good and accurate, that I need a clear image for my front page. Another point is to add enough text and images to attract the audience. Finally to pick a good colour scheme to catch the eye of the reader.
